“I have learned to recycle more and to enjoy what we have. I learned to not waste food and that I want to donate so that other kids can go to science camp.
These words from 5th and 6th graders are just a few of the amazing comments from students that were able to attend Science Camp this year because of the 90 scholarships provided by Assistance League of Los Gatos-Saratoga. Students in Campbell and Moreland School Districts benefited from this support that enriched their lives, both personally and academically. For many of these students, it was their first time to sleep away from home in an outdoor environment.
Subjects such as garbology (recycling) , riparian (creek) walks, earth science such as earthquake, tsunami and volcano knowledge, identification of plant and animal habitat are just a few of the topics designed to inform and excite these young minds. We need future scientists now more than ever, and as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) becomes more of a focus in our world and in our schools, Science Camp is a great introduction!
“After going to Science Camp, it made me realize that I should do better to help the environment.”
