History
Taking Care and Giving Back
Assistance League of Los Gatos-Saratoga is a nonprofit organization dedicated to putting caring and commitment in action. Our members serve our community with programs to benefit children, families and seniors in Silicon Valley. We are part of a national organization with chapters located all across the country.
Established in Los Angeles in the early 1890's, Assistance League has grown into a national organization of 120 individually linked chapters with over 23,000 members who believe that a giving heart and simple compassionate acts can make a significant difference. Volunteers all live where they serve, with all funds raised by local chapters staying in those individual communities.
Together we are Assistance League and we celebrate the power of the volunteer to evoke positive change in the world. In 2012-13, our 100% volunteer driven membership touched the lives of 1.5 million people nationwide. Over $38 million was donated to local communities across the country and our members invested more than 3.2 million service hours.
Locally, Assistance League of Los Gatos-Saratoga became a chapter in 2003 and has grown rapidly since then. Last year, our 110 members made over 10,000 contacts with clients and donated nearly 15,000 hours to make a difference in the lives of those we touched in Silicon Valley. Reaching out to children, families and the frail elderly through carefully researched and evaluated philanthropic programs, we put smiles on the faces of our clients and our members.
